Incidents of bribery uncovered

After the closing of online entries for the Tri To Escape event, authorities are still denying accepting bribes to allow another few inmates into Brandvlei Prison. Reliable sources, however, have confirmed that a small "fee" is being accepted by certain officials until Thursday 24th November or race capacity met. Xterra Wetsuits signs up to assist escape plans

Named after one of the toughest triathlons - Xterra Wetsuits, have confirmed their position as official wetsuit sponsor for this year's race and will assist with this year's escape.

Hiding the evidence of the escape

This year we are pleased to announce that we will be able to remove all evidence of our inmates escape thanks to a new team of accomplices from Tuffy Bag! This means all those DNA-infested energy and water sachets that you discard on the route will be cleaned up by the Tuffy Clean Up Crew!

Swim to Escape added to the programme

Following the success of the Swim to Escape race in 2008, we have decided to once again add this to the programme for this year. The 3.3km swim will take place on the Saturday 10th December at 14h00 at the race venue. You can enter now by downloading the entry form via the link below or wait till race day and pay a little more. Pre-race day entries close on 5th December.

Two registration venues offered

We will once again be able to offer athletes the option of either registering in Blouberg or Worcester this year. Athletes wanting to register in Blouberg will have to RSVP to us to ensure that we send your goodies through to this registration point. Registration will be held at the Big Bay Lifesaving Centre on the 4th of December.

WP trials to be incorporated into Jailbreak

We are in the process of concluding an agreement with Western Province Triathlon Association to incorporate WP Triathlon Trials into Jailbreak this year. This means that your performances on both the long and the short distances will be taken into account for the selection if you are unable to attend WP Champs in February 2012. We look forward to working with WPTA to make this work for the athletes.

Early bird entries extended

The early bird entry price for Jailbreak 2011 has been extended to 20th November. There will be no price increase as was initially advertised on 1 November.

Gang Escape takes on a new format

In an effort to attract more entries to the Gang Escape (team event) and to give athletes more value for money, we have changed the format of the event. In addition there will only be one Gang Escape event - as we aim to improve the competition in all categories.

This year's event will consist of the following legs:

• 2.2km swim
  
• 6km run
  
• 1.1km swim
  
• 44km bike
  
• 11km run

ROUTE CHANGE: After some consultation with athletes and the traffic department of Worcester, it has been decided to eliminate the section of the bike route that takes athletes throught the town of Rawsonville. The road surfaces and Sunday church traffic have always meant that this is not the most ideal race route. The change in course does, however, mean that the cycle route for both events will be slightly shorter.

 OFFICIAL RACE DISTANCES:

• Escape from Maximum Security:
  2.2km swim/88km cycle/22km run
• Escape from Minimum Security:
  1.1km swim/44km cycle/11km run
